Oh Joburg I love you so hard when you are like this! There’s an exhibition opening on Wednesday 18 November at Room Gallery’s new spot in Doornfontein (about a 4 minute drive from Maboneng if you don’t know where Doornfontein is or a 10 minute walk from Ellis Park depending on which cultural landmarks are relevant to you in relation to the gallery). The exhibition titled The Bright Night Project features graphic and photographic work by some of the brightest of the bright in Gauteng. I popped into Room on Friday to see some of the works, which were yet to be hung but was caught feelings enough to make sure I share the news about this exhibition.
The exhibition features works by artists including Karabo Moletsane (image 3), Kristin Moolman (image 1 of the incomparable FAKA) Koos Groeneweld (Image 2), Sindiso Nyoni, Slim, Janna Hamman, Ross Garret and Mzwandile Buthelezi amongst others.
Room Gallery is now at the ground floor of Ellis House, 23 Voorhout Street (Corner 4th Street) Doornfontein. If you’ve been to King Kong, it’s in that area. The exhibition starts at 18.00 and runs until 31 December 2015.
